| DVD PROJECT - "Wilderness" with Singer Songwriter Martin Curtis | |
![]() Production photo: HOIHO | New Zealand has an unique environment, with birds and plants only being found here. With the arrival of human population and colonial immigration came serious threats and endangerment to this special wildlife. Martin Curtis a Singer Songwriter from the Cardrona Valley, has written several songs about this problems. We are in progress to put some of his songs from his CD "Save The Wilderness" and also some brand new ones together for a new Music DVD. |
| In the Catlins, New Zealand's very scenic coastal Landscape between Balclutha and Invercargill,we filmed early this year Martin's beautiful song about the HOIHO, the Yellow Eye Penguin. The challenge was, to find the bird in its natural habitat, and keep the disturbance as minimal as possible, getting footage of birds arriving from sea in the evening, while battling the Sandflies at the same time. | ![]() Production Photo: HOIHO |

Rabbits were introduced by the early settlers of New Zealand, became very quickly a pest, and a threat to the environment. Lacking natural Predators rabbit population could only be controlled by trapping and shooting. |
| A major feature of this song are the Irish Pipes, played in our video by Bob Bickerton. The original Irish Pipes of the CD recording are now at the Arrowtown Museum. These pipes can only be played sitting down. To play the pipes the air is pumped by a bellow strapped under the arm of the musician. Martin Curtis' Gin&Raspberry Records, and The Photographer's Wanaka want to release the new DVD in 2007 ![]() |
